Anxiety Attacks, Anime, and Pirates, Oh My!

No, I don't update often, now, do I?

The past two weeks have, for lack of a better term, been hell. I have been unable to get to sleep on time at all, which pretty much made me a zombie for most of the day all of two weeks ago - a pattern that repeated last week, too - and it's taxing me on my homework, which taxes on my already-deprived sleep cycle, and everything goes downhill from there. On top of that, my meds are really starting to make life interesting to the point that I suffered an incredibly bad anxiety attack in the middle of first hour - bad enough for me to fall to pieces and be signed out for the rest of the day.

However, that's the bad news, and no one likes to read about how emo anyone's life has been. No one reads anyone's DA journal to read anything along the lines of "I feel emo~ Oh so emo~ I feel emo, depressed, and enraged~!"[/bad mockery of "I Feel Pretty"]

So, we'll move to the funny stuff.

Saturday was 8th Day, otherwise something I call "Game Day," for Radcon, which was pretty much nothing but role-playing, miniatures, and console gaming. In my case, it was that first bit. I was pretty much the only player at the anime gaming table the entire time it was open. I wound up playing Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist), Ranma Saotome and Ryoga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2), and Lina Inverse and Naga the White Serpent (Slayers OAV) for the three campaigns available.

On that note, if I'm going to play Ed, I really need to find ways to even further blow his anger issues over his height out of proportion.

Anyway, after the whole schpiel with homunculi/chimera creatures, dealing with a certain martial artists' tangled love-life of engagements (due to a certain idiot father), and escorting the definition of a sissy-boy to retrieve his teddy bear of all things, anime gaming went down. There was still a few hours left before we had to close and clean up, and most other people had already gone home. However, there was still one pen-and-paper RPG that was still going on.

I went off to join the 7th Sea game that my dad was currently playing with.

Don't play 7th Sea unless you can handle the equivalent of drunken Catholic priests, psychopathic hedge-cutters, people who are better at hitting the main villain than the mooks, cowardly (and egotistical) noblemen, really bad French accents, and high-class prostitutes. I wound up playing that last one, which is practically the complete opposite of my moral code.

Bewilderingly enough, I had fun playing the high-class prostitute. I wound up poking a few eyes out (yay for sharp nails and dirty fighting!) and giving myself witty/funny one-liners.

My character wound up coming in the middle of a fight at a tavern in which a bunch of mooks were trying to collect "taxes" in...in a town that is pretty much a semi-German equivalent of Tortuga. My character wound up entering the fight with a right hook and a statement along the lines of: "I don't like it when people make a mess in my tavern. Now either get out or pay your dues."

GM liked the irony. I got a drama die (piece of eight, whatever) out of it to use for later. All of my character's lines were also said in a semi-Czechoslovakian accent, which I stayed in the entire time I was playing.

While not my character who did the damage, the person playing the hedge-trimmer (who the GM had specifically described as being "a little mad") wound up attempting to look for her wallet...and started looking for it with her shears in the poor mook's kidneys. GM wasn't sure if he should be horrified or utterly amused, but it wound up turning into a running gag in later fights.

Same with the idiot noble attempting to carve the image of a crown completely out of a mook's chest and remove it as a trophy. I apparently got the morbid group.

Sometime later, after finding out about some pirate that was smuggling contraband for even the German-Tortuga, my character managed to sweet-talk vital bits of info from a mook that was going to die anyway with the rest of his buddies that were being thrown into the river. I played the sweet, charming, pretty woman that got mistaken for an angel (I had to restrain myself from laughing) before he finally passed out.

And then I promptly said: "You can throw him in the river now."

Even later after going through the manor-equivalent of Wonderland (secret passages in the broom closet that led to the servants' quarters and beer - the priest was happy - and a room that they called the "Hall of Mirrors" but was pretty much everything more or less reversed/inside-out), we wound up finding the villain and fighting against his mooks. More eyes were poked out, tendons were clipped by the hedge-clipper, the noble tried to show off, and the Frenchman (or the equivalent of which) captain got a pretty bad dent on me. Then, once all the mooks were down, the tables turned.

I got the last two moves. The guy was pretty badly hurt at this point, but he wasn't going to go down at my first move. I, notably, am also very tired at this point, despite having an energy drink barely an hour before. I then spouted the following Pre-Ass Kicking One-Liner that led to my Crowning Moment of Awesome for the night:

"Alright. Apparently, you didn't get the message. Face? Meet boot."

To which I promptly kicked him in the face and knocked him out. I got another drama die for that, despite how the game was over. Apparently, I get badass when I'm half-asleep.

And that was my weekend, other than another panic attack this morning.
